TMJ & Teeth Clenching Treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat jaw clenching (bruxism) and reduce the size of the masseter muscles, which are responsible for chewing and jaw tension. For patients who clench or grind their teeth, the masseter muscles can become overactive and enlarged, often leading to jaw pain, headaches, tooth wear and facial tension. Carefully placed injections help relax these muscles, reducing clenching and relieving discomfort. In addition to functional relief, relaxing the masseter muscles can also create a softer, more tapered lower face, which is often referred to as jawline slimming. Masseter treatment can improve: • Jaw clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism) • Jaw tension and facial tightness • Headaches associated with clenching • Enlargement of the masseter muscles • A wider or bulky lower face • Facial imbalance caused by strong jaw muscles Treatment may not be recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain medical conditions. What to Expect During Treatment • The masseter muscles are assessed while clenching to determine muscle size and strength • Targeted injections are placed into the muscle using a fine needle • The procedure typically takes 15–20 minutes • Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. Results typically last up to 6 months, depending on muscle strength and individual metabolism. Patients with stronger masseter muscles may require regular maintenance treatments to maintain both functional relief and facial contour changes. Follow-Up Patients are usually reviewed 4-6 weeks after treatment to assess the response of the masseter muscles and ensure the treatment has achieved the desired outcome.
